Registration Open for the 21st Minas Gerais Coffee Quality Contest 2024

Registration is now open for the 2024 Minas Gerais Coffee Quality Contest, the largest competition in the country for family farmers. Over 1,500 samples are expected this year. Rural producers have until September 6 to register and submit their samples at Emater-MG offices. Participation is free.

According to Willem de Araújo, Emater-MG's state technical coordinator, despite the climatic challenges of the last harvest, excellent quality samples are expected. "Minas Gerais is established as the world's largest producer of fine coffees," he says.

The contest, promoted by the Government of Minas Gerais, Emater-MG, and Seapa, in partnership with Ufla and Faepe, has two categories: Natural Coffee and Pulped, Demucilaged, or Washed Coffee. The coffees will undergo physical and sensory analyses, and the best will be announced in December. The regulations are available on the Emater-MG website.
