During the World Coffee Conference, the International Coffee Organization (ICO) and the Global Coffee Platform (GCP) discussed a memorandum of understanding, renewing and expanding their partnership within the Coffee Public-Private Task Force (CPPTF), in I strive to accelerate sustainability, grower prosperity and address systemic sustainability issues facing coffee communities around the world.

“Innovative public-private cooperations are key to promoting prosperity, improving social well-being and conserving nature in coffee-producing countries,” said Annette Pensel, Executive Director of GCP.

"By renewing and deepening our partnership with the ICO, the Global Coffee Platform unlocks that public-private dialogue, enabling policies, along with financing mechanisms that enable sector transformation, are essential to achieving our shared goals."

The memorandum of understanding signed today confirms the important role the GCP will play in contributing to the completion of the Public-Private Coffee Task Force Roadmap 2030. This includes the delivery of the recently approved Platform 2030 Goal on Uncertainty and Sustainability in coffee farming through collective actions measurable at local and global levels.

"Only a common approach to the future development of the sector can create realized opportunities and pave the way for a sustainable, resilient and inclusive coffee sector. We are proud to support the memorandum of understanding with the GCP today and look forward to the future role this agreement will not develop the sector globally", said Vanusia Nogueira, executive director of the OIC.

“Within this collaboration, we believe that the prosperity of producers must be at the heart of any sustainability program to bring systemic change to challenges such as climate change, regulations and human rights. This can only be achieved through effective cooperation and smart investments", Annette Pensel, Executive Director of GCP

The continuity of the partnership is aligned with the Global Coffee Platform's new strategy of becoming an agent of change around coffee threats through the advancement of collective actions for sustainability. Through the network of National Platforms in coffee producing countries, the learnings obtained in this partnership can be considered and scaled.
